Japanese Schoolgirl Zombie Cheerleaders
My modest entry into Marty's awesome Zombie Moly; content inspired by a great photo laden book about Japanese schlock cinema called "Venus in Pink: Japanese Porn Starlets" by Candice Black from Glitter Books. PS - that's a nod to the "100 Views of Mt. Fuji" in the background there, Japanese art history class paying off once again...
Hope y'all enjoy, and deepest apologies for the slow delivery pace, this past couple months has been unusually busy & distracting for me between travel, family stuff, and getting a new gig lined up. Getting back on track now, noice!

Some Trouble at Canadian Customs for Marty's Moly
Wanted to share this experience with you all in case you're also sending things internationally, or at least, into Canada.
I've just picked up Marty's sketchbook at the post office and had to pay a customs fine of $30.97 because the little green sheet on the front says the book is value $500, which I suspect is a typo simply missing a decimal point. I'm going to argue that angle anyway and send the paperwork and receipt in too the border agency to try and get the charge refunded.
While the art is certainly irreplaceable, customs views the value as my paying for something as a purchase, not as an insurance thing, so they've charged me GST & PST, the two kinds of taxes here.
Just wanted to let you all know so that for future posts you might have into Canada, it's generally best to either cite a low value or mark the item "gift - zero value" then insure it separately as a gift "x" value or get a tracking number for it. Tracking numbers are often enough.
Any rate, the Moly is here safe and is an incredible thing to behold, every contribution in there so far is stunning!

Passing on Marty's book
Okay....finally done. Could have puttered away at this for another 3 months.....but that isn't the point right? This is a collaborative thing. This is an awesome book and I hate to see it go. So here is my entry.
Here is the book as a whole.
Once again, I want to thank everyone for the opportunity.
This is a rad group!

Zombie Giant
Got this book just before taking off to thailand for two weeks, then had a couple weeks of getting back into the swing of things, and more or less not making progress, so sat myself down and got some stuff going finally.
And this is what happened. Some of it a bit more grim than I expected it. A lil' more work in this book, then I'll pass it on ( I think this one's almost through everyone? )
Just out of curiosity, any interest on a role-call on who's got who's book right now?

There.
This was fun. I used dyes to color this. First time. I've tested them before, but I really don't like them much, yet. The skin is too bright for me, but it's dye so the color should disappear in a couple of years. Then it will look right.
I think that she ended up looking a little like Drew Barrymore.
Here it comes F1X+2.
Added fun.

How do you do the colorific hoodoo voodoo that you do?
May I ask how you all are doing your colors?
I've tried water color / art markers - they bled too much; tried color pencils - too muted versus the yellow card stock. Tried water colors with varied success, though seems I have to really layer up goopy thick paint to get enough opacity to overcome the yellow.
Most of you all seem to easily surmount the yellow and get some sharp details in your colors. What do you use? Is it guasch paint? acryllic?
And yes, sorry, this is a huge gaping hole in my fine arts background, I don't know nearly enough about illustrative color work or techniques. Any suggestions would be deeply appreciated!
Thanks!

PS - apologies if you saw this post on the other Moly groups I'm in, trying to get ample coverage from all the amazingly talented folks I've been fortunate enough to crew up with!

Trick of the trade.
Hey Michael, I will try to get this book in the mail by tomorrow. Have fun with it. It's a beautiful thing.
The paper is so absorbent that inking the way I like wouldn't have worked, so I pasted the sketch into the book. The sketch was done by tracing an old pinup image in Adobe Illustrator. I then printed the sketch on to Moleskine Cahier paper using my inkjet printer. I used 3M Super 77 spray adhesive to mount the picture in the book. Then, I inked it. You'd never know that computer had anything to do with it.

Colin's Book
What is a zombie
I pose this question just because it's off the top of my head. Which is what is or makes a zombie to you? How much flesh has to be on the person for it to be a zombie? Zombie animals? Zombie fruit? zombie cars? Just thought i'd pose the question and see... maybe it will further our study of zombies.
water color pencils rock for zombie mayhem!
I'll get this in the post as soon as I have an answer to this question:
Lindsay and I swapped, which I now realize means we reversed the order of things. So, should I send this to Marty to correct the flow, or to David B. thereby encouraging a counter-flow?
Opinions? Oh, and Marty, could you email me your address again? David, I think I have yours handy. best to be prepared either way. :)
I'll get proper scans posted soon, just snapped a phone camera shot for the meantime.
